We are working in partnership with Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire (VANL) in the recruitment of volunteers for The Westfield Health British Transplant Games 2017. The first step to becoming a Games volunteer is to contact VANL by email dutyofficer@vanl.co.uk or on 01698 358866. We would love to have your support to help make the Games a success and we are committed to providing relevant training and support before, during and after the Games.

General Event Volunteer

Role

Join the event team to ensure the smooth running of the Games. This will involve liaison with public, athletes, supporters, VIP’s and dealing with enquiries

Helping with the venue set up and takedown. Acting on behalf of the event management team to provide information and assistance to the Game’s family, public and VIP’s

Minimum of 2 days volunteering on a rota basis

Opening Ceremony Marshall/Social Events Volunteer

 

Role

Working with the event management team to organise the parade and marshalling of parade route and teams into the opening ceremony venue. Help to deliver and stage-manage the opening ceremony. Reception and hosting duties will include general hospitality and good customer service at all events

Sport Specific Volunteer

Role

Working with the sports managers to deliver the sports competition element of the Games. This may involve route marshalling, scoring, timing and helping to process results

Various sporting venues across North Lanarkshire

Availability

Minimum of 2 days volunteering on a rota basis including evenings

Additional skills

Outgoing and attention to detail

 

Venue Branding/Infrastructure Pre-Event

Role

Be part of the communications team to dress the various venues providing the look and feel of the event. This could involve putting up signage, hanging of fence scrim and displaying pop-up banners

Outgoing, enjoys physical tasks and attention to detail

 

Registration

Role

Work with the event managers to prepare the registration and administration process for the arrival of the teams and be part of the group that register competitors

Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility

Availability

Minimum of 2 days volunteering on a rota basis including evenings

Additional skills

Outgoing, proactive, physically fit

Children’s Activities

Role

Work with the children’s activity team assisting with a range of activities throughout the 4 day event; family fun, games, face painting etc

Venue

Various across North Lanarkshire

Availability

Minimum of 2 days volunteering on a rota basis

Additional skills

Enjoy working with children, outgoing, proactive

 

All roles will require the volunteer to:

Be 16 years old by 1 July 2017

Attend Games orientation training

Be enthusiastic, reliable and committed l Get to and from their volunteering venue l Work as a team

When applicable, work under own initiative

 

Please note volunteers will be:

Volunteering as part of a volunteer team and supported by the Games

Part of the Event Management Team

Provided with refreshments / lunch (in line with their volunteering rota)

A valued part of a national sporting event

Provided with a t-shirt to wear at the event and keep afterwards

Offered the opportunity to, when not volunteering, be a spectator at the Games

Given a volunteer certificate

Able to include any completed volunteer hours towards volunteer programmes such as Event Management for Volunteers, Millennium Volunteers, GoldMark, Duke of Edinburgh etc
